New Delhi: Royal Enfield has begun rolling out the much-awaited RE Gear Position Indicator (GPI) retrofit for eligible 350cc motorcycles across its authorized service network in India. The update comes as welcome news for thousands of owners who received their motorcycles without the feature due to a temporary supply chain disruption last year.

According to reports, the free retrofit is available for select Classic 350, Hunter 350, Meteor 350, and Goan Classic 350 motorcycles manufactured after August 2025. Owners can verify eligibility through their motorcycle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or by contacting their nearest authorised Royal Enfield service centre.

Why Was the Feature Missing?

In 2025, Royal Enfield temporarily discontinued the Gear Position Indicator on some 350cc models because of a global shortage of rare-earth materials used in the sensor assembly. To avoid production delays, the company delivered motorcycles with a Neutral Indication System, assuring customers that the Gear Position Indicator would be installed later at no additional cost once component supplies improved.

With the supply chain now stabilising, the company has started fulfilling that commitment by offering the retrofit free of charge through authorised dealerships and service centres.
