My Perfect 2-Day Jaipur Itinerary: Exploring the Pink City’s Best Spots

Day 1: Discovering the Historic Heart of Jaipur

Morning: Arrival and Amber Fort Adventure I started my Jaipur trip by hiring a taxi from the airport to Amber Fort. This stunning place, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was my first stop. I even got to ride an elephant up to the fort, which was super fun. Inside, the Sheesh Mahal, or Mirror Palace, was dazzling with its intricate mirror work.

Midday: Jaigarh Fort and Nahargarh Fort After Amber Fort, I took another taxi to visit Jaigarh Fort, home to the world’s largest cannon on wheels, called Jaivana. Then, I headed to Nahargarh Fort for breathtaking views of Jaipur. The fort walls stretching across the hills made for some great photos.

Afternoon: City Palace and Jantar Mantar Back in the city center, I explored the City Palace, which beautifully blends Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. I used an auto-rickshaw to get there. The museum had fascinating royal artifacts. Next, I visited Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory with the world’s largest stone sundial. It was intriguing to see how ancient science worked.

Evening: Hawa Mahal and Local Markets I ended my day at the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, using another auto-rickshaw. This unique five-story building with its 953 windows was built so royal ladies could watch the city without being seen. After that, I wandered through Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar, where I shopped for traditional jewelry, textiles, and handicrafts.

Day 2: Enjoying Jaipur’s Culture and Nature

Morning: Albert Hall Museum and Birla Mandir On my second day, I started with the Albert Hall Museum. I used a taxi to get there. It’s the oldest museum in Rajasthan, full of interesting artifacts. Then, I went to the beautiful white marble Birla Mandir, a peaceful temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. I took an auto-rickshaw for this short trip.

Midday: Jaipur Zoo and Rambagh Palace I visited the Jaipur Zoo to see various wildlife species. For this, I walked since it was nearby. For lunch, I treated myself at the luxurious Rambagh Palace, which used to be the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The royal atmosphere and delicious food were unforgettable.

Afternoon: Galtaji Temple (Monkey Temple) In the afternoon, I took a taxi to Galtaji Temple, also known as the Monkey Temple because of all the monkeys around. This ancient pilgrimage site is in a narrow valley and has natural springs and seven sacred pools.

Evening: Chokhi Dhani for a True Rajasthani Experience I wrapped up my Jaipur adventure at Chokhi Dhani, an ethnic village resort. I hired a taxi to get there since it’s a bit outside the city. It was amazing to experience traditional Rajasthani culture with folk dances, puppet shows, and a sumptuous Rajasthani dinner. It was the perfect end to my trip, leaving me with wonderful memories.

As a solo traveler, you must be excited to explore Jaipur on a motorcycle. In two days, you can cover some of the top 12 places in the city, including its heritage sites, cultural attractions, and local markets. Here’s a Jaipur 2-day itinerary for you.  While 2 days is not sufficient to explore the heritage sites.  While Jaipur has more than 25 plus tourist charms to explore once in a lifetime.

Apart from Jaipur, other most visited tourist places in Rajasthan are Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Jaisalmer.  I suggest you must visit these tourist charms, to suit your itinerary.  The best time to visit Rajasthan tourist attractions is from September onwards.  As the weather is pleasant during these months.

Train

If you are under budget travel then a double-decker chair train with a fare of Rs.450/- approx from Delhi to Jaipur is the best option.

Bus

RRTC runs Volvo A/C buses from ISBT Kashmiri gate with a decent fare. Once you go to ISBT, Kashmiri Gate you will find ample buses plying from Delhi to Jaipur. The journey is around 5 to 6 hours approximately.

Own Vehicle

Motorcycle: – Take the national road to Jaipur. Travel cost, petrol charges, intermittent breaks, drinking water to stay hydrated while on the ride

Day 1: Hawa Mahal

1. Start your day early with a visit to the iconic Hawa Mahal. This five-story palace is known for its intricate honeycomb-like structure and is a must-visit destination in Jaipur.
2. The Hawa Mahal is a unique five-story structure with 953 small windows or jharokhas that were built for the royal ladies to observe the city’s daily life. The structure looks stunning from the outside, and you can also go inside to explore its various sections.
3. Next, head to the Amber Fort, which is a short 20-minute ride from Hawa Mahal. This magnificent fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its stunning architecture and panoramic views of the city.
4. Amer Fort is located just 11 km from Jaipur. The fort is a masterpiece of Rajput architecture and was built by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century.
5. You can explore the fort’s various sections, including the Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, and Sheesh Mahal. The fort also offers an excellent view of Maota Lake and the surrounding hills.
6. After exploring the Amer Fort, take a break for lunch at one of the many local restaurants in the area.
7. After the lunch, the weather may be hot, so the best thing to do is spend the afternoon exploring the City Palace, which is located in the heart of Jaipur. This stunning palace is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles and houses several museums and galleries.
8. The City Palace is located approx. 2 km from the Hawa Mahal. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century and is a perfect example of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The palace has several courtyards, gardens, and buildings that you can explore, including the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal.
9. After visiting the City Palace, explore the famous market Johari Bazaar, which is just a kilometer away. The market is famous for its jewelry, textiles, and handicrafts.
10. Also explore the famous Bapu Bazaar. The market is famous for its textiles, handicrafts, and leather goods. You can explore the market and shop for souvenirs or try some local street food.

Further, you may buy sovenirs as a memory of your visit to Jaipur to take back home.

End your day with a visit to the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory built in the early 18th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to several architectural and astronomical instruments that are still in use today.

Astronomical observatory Jantar Mantar, which was build by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II during the 18th century.  Jantar Mantar is located  located just 1 km from the City Palace. The observatory has several instruments that were used to measure time, predict eclipses, and track stars and planets.

Option 1: Another option to start your day 1 by first visiting Hawa Mahal, then City Palace, Jantar mantar then take your lunch at nearby restaurant.  After the lunch you may head towards Amer Fort which is aprox 10 km.

Day 2:

Start your day with a visit to the Nahargarh Fort, which is located on the Aravalli Hills overlooking Jaipur. The fort was built in the 18th century and offers an excellent view of the city and the surrounding hills.

You can explore the various sections of the fort, including the Madhavendra Bhawan, which was a summer palace for the royal family.

This fort offers panoramic views of the city and is an excellent spot for sunrise.

After enjoying the view, head to the Jal Mahal, which is located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake. This picturesque palace is a popular spot for photography.

Next, visit the Albert Hall Museum, which is located in the heart of Jaipur. This stunning museum houses several galleries showcasing Indian art, textiles, and artifacts.

The museum is located in the Ram Niwas Garden and has a vast collection of artifacts, including paintings, sculptures, and weapons. The museum is a perfect place to learn about the city’s history and culture.

Take a break for lunch at one of the many local restaurants in the area.

Option 2: Another option for day 2 start your day by visiting Birla Mandir, Albert Hall Museum, lunch at Chokhi Dhani village, come back to hotel pack yourself up with riding gears.  Checkout the hotel on the way to delhi visit Jal Mahal, then Nahargarh Fort.  After exploring head back to your home on your motorcycle.
