History of Kainchi Dham

The name “kainchi Dham” was given due to the mountains cut each other in a way like scissors.

In the year 1960 Shri Neem Karoli Baba visited this place and established the Asham for the devotees.

Weather in Kainchi Dham

In the month June, the weather in Kechi Dham is typically mild and pleasant.

Kainchi Dham Temperatures range from around 15°C (59°F) to 25°C (77°F), making it an ideal time for visitors to explore the region.

The area experiences occasional rainfall, which brings a refreshing coolness to the air and enhances the natural beauty of the surroundings. The lush greenery and blooming flora during this month add to the serene atmosphere, making June a favorable time to visit Kainchi Dham for both relaxation and spiritual pursuits.

You may visit Kainchi Dham any time during the year. 

But the best month to visit March, May, June, September, October, November and December.

How to reach Kanchi Dham ?

There are three ways to reach Kainchi Dham. You may decide whether you will prefer traveling by air, train, or road.  Based on your location and preferences you can select the best option suitable for you. But if you are an adventure travel loving person, then travelling by road or bus would be preferable.

By Air – Kainchi Dham nearest Airport

The nearest airport to Kainchi Dham is Pantnagar Airport, which is approximately 70 kilometers (about 43 miles) away. This airport provides convenient access for travelers visiting the area, with connections to major cities in India. From Pantnagar Airport, visitors can hire a taxi or take other modes of transport to reach Kainchi Dham.

By Train

If you’re traveling by train, reach Kathgodam Railway Station, which is well-connected to major cities in India. Several trains run regularly to Kathgodam from Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and other prominent cities.

After reaching Kathgodam Railway Station, come out of railway station, you will find many private taxi.  Either you take the shared taxi or book a personal taxi.  Kainchi Dham is approximately 40 km from the Kathgodam railway station.

By Road

From kathgodam you will get public transport buses to Kainchi Dham.  You may also hire or board a shared taxi from outside the bus stand. You may also board the bus plying from Nainital to Almora and get down at Kainchi Dham Ashram.

Hire a Taxi or Take a Bus

From Kathgodam, hire a taxi or board a local bus to Almora. Almora is a popular hill town and serves as a significant transit point for reaching Kainchi Dham. Enjoy the scenic drive as you wind through the picturesque landscapes of Uttarakhand.

Ask the driver to drop you off at the Kainchi Dham Bus Stop. This stop is the closest point to the destination.

Trek or Take a Local Transport

From the Kainchi Dham Bus Stop, you have two options to reach the main temple area. If you enjoy trekking and are up for an adventure, take the scenic trek that leads to the temple. The trek is not very strenuous and offers beautiful views along the way. Alternatively, you can also find local transport, like shared cabs or autorickshaws, that will take you to Kainchi Dham.

  3. Train: Alternatively, you can take a train from Mumbai to Kathgodam, the nearest railway station to Kainchi Dham, and then hire a taxi or take a bus for the remaining 37 kilometers to Kainchi Dham.

This route offers a combination of air, rail, and road travel to reach Kainchi Dham from Mumbai.

Rajasthan to Kainchi Dham

To travel from Rajasthan to Kainchi Dham, follow these steps:

  1. Flight/Train: Take a flight or train from a major city in Rajasthan (e.g., Jaipur, Udaipur) to Delhi.
  2. Train to Kathgodam: From Delhi, take a train to Kathgodam, the nearest railway station to Kainchi Dham.
  3. Taxi/Bus: From Kathgodam, hire a taxi or take a bus for the remaining 37 kilometers to Kainchi Dham.

Alternatively, you can drive directly, but this involves a long road trip across multiple states.

Rajasthan to Kainchi Dham by Road

To travel from Rajasthan to Kainchi Dham by road, follow these steps:

  1. Start from your location in Rajasthan: Drive towards Delhi, taking the NH48 if you are starting from Jaipur.
  2. From Delhi: Take the NH9 towards Moradabad.
  3. From Moradabad: Continue on NH109 towards Kathgodam.
  4. From Kathgodam: Drive to Kainchi Dham, which is about 37 kilometers away.
