Jaipur to Udaipur Solo Bike Ride on Apache RTR 160 | Rajasthan Road Trip Guide

The alarm rang at 4:15 AM. for a few seconds, I stared at the ceiling of my Jaipur hotel room. Outside, the city was still sleeping. The streets that were crowded with tourists and local traffic yesterday is now silent in the morning.

And again, it rang after 5 minutes shaking me as if to through me out of bed. With lazy steps I walked towards the window withdraw the curtains and looked outside. The sky was dark with a faint hint of blue on the horizon.

“Today is the day – Solo Rider Zeal ” (A thought that come my mind before every ride)

Back to present- after a quick shower, I quickly packed my bags – I use Viaterra claw tail bag. and refill my water bottle. Then I pick my bag and headed towards my bike. I put the tail bag on the bike pillion seat, quickly tied the straps.

At 5:15 AM, I pressed the start button the engine creached before starting. Then the soothing sound a familiar one growl of my Apache RTR 160 echoed the surrounding.

Why I Chose to Ride from Jaipur to Udaipur

Many travelers take a train or flight between Jaipur and Udaipur.

But for me, Rajasthan is best experienced on two wheels.

The changing landscapes, small villages, road side tea stalls, ancient forts, and endless highways lure riders to experience once.

The distance between Jaipur and Udiapur is approximately 400 Km.

On Motorcycle its takes around 7 hours to 9 hours with intermittent breaks, quick pitstop to refresh, hydrate yourself.

Riding out of Jaipur Before Sunrise

The roads were almost empty. The cool morning air felt refreshing.

I crossed the city limits quickly and joined the highway. One of the best parts about starting early morning is avoiding city traffic.

Within minutes, I was cruising comfortably at 70-80km/h

The Apache RTR 160 felt smooth and eager. As i moved further on the Highway towards my destination the sky above me was changing from Dark Blue to orange and then came the first rays of sunlight. Watching sunlight with my motobike is feeling of oneness.

First Tea stop of the day

(we call it chai ki tappari – made of tin at some place and some place it is covered with dry wood)

after riding continuous for 150 km from Jaipur, I spotted a tea stall ( chai ki tappari) I stopped parked my bike on the right side of the tea stall, while , on the highway – cars, trucks passing with zooooom!, zaaaaak ! keep moving

The tea seller kaka smiled and asked “kahan ja rahe ho” (where are you going?)

“Udaipur“, I replied

His eyes widened “on this bike”,
I laughed, and said “Yeah”

He Handed me a steaming cup of tea and wished me a safe journey.

These small conversations are one of the reasons. I enjoy solo riding. Because I get the opportunity to talk with local people and they become a part of my travel story.

Riding Through Rajasthan’s Changing landscapes.

AS the morning progresses Rajasthan revealed its beauty before my eyes.

The roads were excellent.

Long stretches of smooth highway made riding effortless.

The scenery kept changing.

One moment I was passing open fields.

The next moment I was riding through rocky landscapes.

Small villages appeared every few kilometers.

Women in colorful traditional dresses walked along the roads.

Camels occasionally appeared near the highway.

The entire route felt like a moving postcard.

Every turn offered a new photograph waiting to happen.

Breakfast Break near Bhilwara

Around 10:30 AM, I stopped near Bilwara for breakfast.

The ride until this point has been enjoyable.
I parked the motorcycle and orders:
– Aloo Parantha
– Curd
– Tea

Nothing tastes better than roadside breakfast during a motorcycle trip.

The Apache RTR 160 had performed flawlessly.

I checked the luggage straps again, stretched my legs, drank water, and prepared for the next section of the journey.
Hydration is extremely important while riding in Rajasthan.
Even if the weather feels pleasant, the dry air can quickly cause dehydration.

The Highway Experience

One thing that impressed me during this ride was the road quality.
Most sections offered:

• Wide lanes
• good surface quality
• clearn signbards
• fuel stations at regular intervals

The Apache RTR 160 handled the highway beautifully.
Many riders assume a 160cc motorcycle cannot tour comfortably.
This ride proved otherwise. I maintained a cruising speed of 70kmph to 80 kmph. The bike was cruising effortlessly. I got the fuel efficiency of 40 kilometer per litre during this ride
The bike maintained cruising speeds without stress.
Vibrations were minimal.

Unexpected Encounter on the Road

Near a fuel station, I met two riders from Gujarat.

They were riding larger motorcycles.

We started talking about routes, road conditions, and travel experiences.

Within minutes, we were exchanging stories from previous road trips.

Motorcyclists share a unique bond.

No introductions are required.

The motorcycle itself becomes the conversation starter.

After a short break, we wished each other safe travels and continued in different directions.

That is the beauty of the road.

People enter your journey briefly and leave lasting memories.

Entering the Aravalli Region

As I moved closer to Udaipur, the landscape became even more beautiful.

The Aravalli Hills began appearing in the distance.

The roads started winding gently.

This section was my favorite part of the journey.

The hills added excitement to the ride.

The weather became slightly cooler.

The scenery became greener.

Compared to the desert image many people associate with Rajasthan, this region felt surprisingly lush.

Every few kilometers I wanted to stop and take photographs.

Why Solo Riding Feels Different

People often ask me:

“Don’t you feel lonely while riding alone?”

The answer is no.

Solo riding gives me something rare in modern life.

Silence.

There are no meetings.

No deadlines.

No notifications.

Only the road ahead.

I become more aware of my surroundings.

I notice the smell of the earth.

I notice changing temperatures.

I notice the colors of the sky.

Solo riding is not about being alone.

It is about being present.

Reaching Udaipur

By late afternoon, I finally saw the signboard I had been waiting for.

Welcome to Udaipur.

The City of Lakes.

After nearly 400 kilometers, I had reached my destination.

The feeling was incredible.

Not because the ride was difficult.

But because every kilometer had created a memory.

As I entered the city, the beautiful lakes, white buildings, and surrounding hills immediately made me understand why Udaipur is considered one of India’s most beautiful cities.

I checked into my hotel, parked the Apache RTR 160, removed my helmet, and smiled.

Another solo ride completed.

Another story added to my journey.

• Ride resonsibly through towns and villages.

• Avoid afternoon from 12 noon till 5 pm – in summer too hot

Final Thoughts

he Jaipur to Udaipur motorcycle journey is one of the best road trips in Rajasthan.

It offers excellent highways, beautiful scenery, cultural experiences, and enough variety to keep every rider engaged.

The route is suitable for beginners, experienced riders, and budget travelers alike.

Most importantly, it reminds you why motorcycle travel is special.

You don’t simply travel through Rajasthan.

You feel Rajasthan.

As I sat beside Lake Pichola that evening watching the sunset, I realized something.

The destination was beautiful.

But the road that brought me there was even better.
